Shares of industrial and transportation companies declined amid fears about the implications of artificial-intelligence advances for freight brokers.

Shares of CH Robinson Worldwide, Expeditors International of Washington and RXO plunged, amid fears that AI tools could automate the shipment coordination and supply-chain management that represents their core business.

Shares of trucking lines such as Saia, XPO and Old Dominion Freight Lines fell sharply.
