Turkey’s Aygaz (AYGAZ) has signed a shipbuilding contract with South Korea’s HD Hyundai Samho for the construction of a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) transportation vessel, Aygaz said on January 15.

Aygaz will pay $119mn for the vessel in instalments. The majority of the instalments will be paid before the delivery of the vessel, which is scheduled for 2Q28.

The ship will be a VLGC (very large gas carrier) and dual fuel system LPG vessel with a capacity of 52,000 tonnes (93.000 cubic metres).

In 2024, Aygaz acquired an MGC (medium gas carrier) size LPG vessel from UK-based Spires Marine for a consideration of $59mn.

Aygaz is the largest importer and distributor of LPG in Turkey with its Aygaz, Mogaz and Lipetgaz brands. Currently, it has a fleet of three vessels.
