ITC Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. Amitabh Kant (DIN: 00222708) as a Director and also as an Independent Director of the Company for a period of five years with effect from January 1, 2026. Mr. Amitabh Kant, aged 69, is a retired IAS Officer with administrative experience spanning over four decades, and is a governance reformer and a public policy change agent. Mr. Kant joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1980 (Kerala cadre), was G20 Sherpa to the Prime Minister of India during India?s Presidency of G20 in 2022-23, and has served as Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India), Secretary to the then Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, CEO of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation, Joint Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, and Tourism Secretary to the Government of Kerala.

He has authored various books including ?Made in India?, ?Incredible India 2.0?, and ?Branding India - An Incredible Story?, and is a recipient of several awards. Mr. Kant presently serves on the Boards of HCL Technologies Limited, Larsen & Toubro Limited and InterGlobe Aviation Limited, amongst others.

ITC Limited is a diversified group organized around 6 areas of activities: - production of cigarettes (39.7% of net sales); - manufacturing of consumer products (22.3%): packaged foods (biscuits, snacks, confectionery and ready meals), paper products, and personal care products; - manufacturing of food products (20.5%): rice, soya, coffee and tobacco leaves; - production of papers and packages (10.6%); - hotels operating (2.2%); - other (4.7%). India accounts for 84.2% of net sales.
