The International Trade Commission will investigate whether Samsung and two of its customers infringed upon Netlist's patents, after the memory- and storage-solutions company filed a complaint in September.

The ITC on Monday said it would look into whether certain dynamic random access memory, or DRAM, devices manufactured by Samsung, Alphabet-owned Google and Super Micro Computer were in violation of patent infringement.

Over the course of its investigation, the ITC will determine whether these memory products should be banned from importation into the U.S. for infringing six Netlist patents, the Irvine, Calif., company said.

Chief Executive Chun "Chuck" Hong said the company is pleased with the ITC's decision to investigate the products. "We remain committed to preventing the use of Netlist's intellectual property without a license," he added.
