American depositary shares of Kaspi.kz gained on an investment from Chinese tech giant Tencent.

ADSs rose 9.1% to $92.63 Monday and have climbed 19% year to date.

The payments and e-commerce company said Tencent, institutional investors, Kaspi.kz's Chief Executive Mikheil Lomtadze and other members of the company's management team purchased six million of its ADSs from Baring Fintech Venture Funds.

The purchase makes Tencent, the operator of WeChat, one of Kaspi.kz's largest shareholders, the company said.
