A leap forward through certification

Continuing updates on the accreditation of two National Productivity Organization (NPO)-guided certification bodies (CBs) in September 2021, the Malaysia Productivity Corporation Certification Body (MPC-CB) and Vietnam Productivity Specialists Certification Body (ViProCB), key representatives of the ViProCB shared their views on accreditation as an APO CB.

"We are delighted that the ViProCB is officially recognized as a CB by the Asian Productivity Organization Accreditation Body (APO-AB) to operate the Productivity Specialists Certification Program in Vietnam," stated ViProCB Project Manager Nguyen Tuyet Trinh. She expressed gratitude to the APO, APO-AB, and experts deputed to assist the ViProCB in its certification journey.

Since the project started in 2020, the APO had closely supported the ViProCB in setting up the required organizational structure, training staff, and putting in place a management system in accordance with the requirements of APO-AB 1003: General Requirements for Certification Bodies: Certification of Persons Scheme, she added.

Project Manager Trinh pointed out that, "The Productivity Specialists Certification Program will enhance the prestige, position, and career prospects of certified individuals working in consulting, training, research, and productivity promotion fields, while at the same time developing a network of well-trained domestic productivity experts."

Dr. Ha Minh Hiep, Deputy Director General of the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality, Ministry of Science and Technology, who also serves as ViProCB Chairman, believed that, "The newly established ViProCB will play a significant role in strengthening productivity specialists for Vietnam." Dr. Hiep noted that Vietnam was among the countries with the lowest GDP in the region. Therefore, one of the main goals of the Productivity Specialists Certification Program is to create favorable conditions for businesses by providing access to a pool of qualified professionals trained under international standards. He appreciated the APO-CB Development Program and the deputation of international and local experts to establish the ViProCB since, "Being officially recognized by the APO-AB, the ViProCB will operate with high standards, continuously improve its operations, and contribute to the creation of a pool of professional productivity experts in Vietnam."
