ADRs Close Higher; 51job Falls

11/08/2021 | 07:05pm EST

International stocks trading in New York closed higher on Monday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts improved 0.7% to 166.64. The European index increased 0.3% to 148.88. The Asian index rose 1.2% to 223.75. The Latin American index rose 1% to 177.59. And the emerging-markets index rose 1.8% to 367.34.

51job Inc. was among those whose ADRs traded actively.

Cement maker Cemex SAB closed a $3.25 billion syndicated bank credit deal with which it repaid in full an existing facility dating back to the global financial crisis. "This new credit agreement represents a major milestone in our path to investment grade as it is our first major syndicated unsecured bank agreement since 2009," said Cemex, adding that financial covenants are "consistent with an investment grade capital structure." It included $1.5 billion in five-year loans and $1.75 billion in a five-year revolving credit facility. Interest spreads are about 25bp lower on average that the previous facility, and could be adjusted up or down by 5bp depending on Cemex's annual performance in meeting certain of its sustainability goals. ADRs rose 10% to $6.97.

51job Inc.'s ADRs closed down 19% at $54.22 after the provider of human-resource services in China updated on its going-private deal. The company said some members of the buyer consortium have been in consultation with Chinese regulators on recent regulatory changes in China that may be applicable to the company and the proposed deal. The consultation process is currently ongoing and the company said it can't provide a clear timeline to its completion at this time.
