International stocks trading in New York closed lower on Monday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts fell 2.4% to 159.38. The European index declined 2% to 139.94. The Asian index dropped 2.9% to 216.89. The Latin American index fell 2.8% to 186.45. And the emerging-markets index declined 3.2% to 355.85.
AstraZeneca PLC was among the companies whose ADRs traded actively.
AstraZeneca PLC said its breast cancer drug Enhertu significantly reduced the risk of dying or disease progression in women with advanced disease in a large clinical trial, the latest sign that its push into oncology is starting to pay off. ADRs rose 5% to $58.50.
Prudential PLC is planning to raise up to 22.49 billion Hong Kong dollars ($2.89 billion) by issuing new shares as the insurer looks to redeem high-coupon debt due in six months and invest for growth. ADRs closed down 9% at $36.38.
