International stocks trading in New York closed higher Thursday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts ticked up 0.9% to 142.08. The European index edged up 0.5% to 134.81. The Asian index advanced 1.2% to 166.21. The Latin American index gained 2.3% to 204.56, while the emerging-markets index increased 1.3% to 285.41.

Akari Therapeutics Plc was among those whose ADRs traded actively.

The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company fell 7.6% after it presented results from its CASCADE and CORONET studies in patients with Covid-19 pneumonia at the American Thoracic Society's annual meeting.

Furniture company Natuzzi S.p.A. rose 1% after its board approved a proposal that will be submitted at an upcoming extraordinary shareholders meeting to approve a new stock option plan, among other aspects.
