ADRs End Higher; BioNTech, Veolia Among Companies Actively Trading

International stocks trading in New York closed higher on Monday. The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 0.1% to 163.17. The European index improved 0.1% to 148.50. The Asian index rose 0.3% to 212.75. And the emerging-markets index rose 0.4% to 346.12. However, the Latin American index fell 0.8% to 179.18.

ADRs of BioNTech SE rose 8.6% on Monday after the company said it has entered into a multi-target discovery collaboration with Crescendo Biologics Ltd. to develop new immunotherapies to treat patients with cancer and other diseases. The initial collaboration will last for three years, the companies said.

Veolia Environnement SA's ADRs, which trade over the counter, tumbled 3% on Monday after the company said it is separating the functions of chief executive officer and chairman in a sweeping governance overhaul, as Estelle Brachlianoff prepares to succeed Antoine Frerot as CEO.

Takeda Pharmaceutical Co.'s ADRs rose 2.4% after the company said it has exercised its option to acquire UK company Adaptate Biotherapeutics, which focuses on the development of antibody-based therapeutics for the modulation of certain T cells. Takeda will acquire Adaptate's antibody-based <GAMMA> T cell engager platform, which includes its preclinical candidate and discovery pipeline programs, it said.
