International stocks trading in New York closed lower on Thursday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts fell 0.4% to 165.37. The European index tumbled 0.2% to 144.90. The Asian index fell 0.4% to 225.17. The Latin American index decreased 1.8% to 197.08. And the emerging-markets index fell 0.9% to 370.98.

ADRs of European airlines rose after Irish budget carrier Ryanair Holdings PLC raised its five-year growth forecast to 225 million passengers by March 2026. Ryanair's ADRs rose 7.9%, easyJet PLC's ADRs jumped 3.8% and International Consolidated Airlines Group SA rose 2.6%.

Lukoil PJSC's ADRs slipped 1.1% after the company said it has created a joint venture with Gazprom Neft to develop a major oil and gas cluster in Russia's Yamal-Nenets autonomous region.

Sibanye-Stillwater Ltd.'s ADRs tumbled 2.9% after the South African mining company said Thursday that it has created a joint venture with ioneer Ltd. for the U.S.-based Rhyolite Ridge Lithium-Boron project.
