International stocks trading in New York closed mostly higher on Thursday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 0.65% to 160.50. The European index fell 0.37% to 146.33. The Asian index rose 1.98% to 208.11. The Latin American index increased 1.89% to 179.73. The emerging-markets index rose 2.89% to 341.11.
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.'s ADRs fell 6.29% after a New York jury found that the Israeli-based pharmaceutical company was liable for playing a role in fueling opioid addiction. Teva said it disagrees with the ruling and plans to both appeal as well as pursue a mistrial ruling.
ADRs of Cemex SAB de CV rose 2.56% on Thursday after the Mexican building materials company agreed to sell its assets in Costa Rica and El Salvador to Cementos Progreso Holdings, which operates across Central America, for about $335 million. The sale includes a cement plant, a grinding station, seven ready-mix plants, an aggregates quarry and two distribution centers.
