Washington, D.C. - The American Gas Association (AGA) has been named one of The Washington Post's Top Workplaces in the Washington, D.C. area for the seventh consecutive year. Selection is based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC, which measured several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection.

'I am proud that AGA has been named as a Top Workplace by The Washington Post for a seventh year in a row,' said AGA President and CEO Karen Harbert. 'It has been a tough year, but we made it through. We stuck together, supported each other and found new and innovative ways to represent America's natural gas utilities.'

On July 7, AGA employees will return, on a voluntary basis, to their headquarters at 400 North Capitol St., NW, for the first time since March 2020. While working virtually, the AGA Board of Directors passed a resolution to support reasonable cybersecurity regulations, the organization cheered the reauthorization of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and joined the National Energy & Utility Affordability Coalition in successfully advocating for the largest single-year funding allocation for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. AGA matched employee donations to relief organizations of their choosing in 2020 and 2021 and also made contributions of time and resources to several area charities. The group has almost completed an eight-week fitness challenge where employees average the combined equivalent of 2.5 million steps per week.

This year's honorees include government contractors, real estate firms, professional and business services, law firms and tech companies. 'Now in its eighth year, The Post's Top Workplaces list continues to highlight the companies in the Washington area that are leaders in company satisfaction and engagement,' said Washington Post Top Workplaces editor Dion Haynes. 'Throughout the past 15 months, these companies have had to make quick decisions in order to keep their employees safe while also balancing productivity and efficiency, and their employees have taken note of this great work.'

The Washington Post hosted a virtual awards ceremony on Thursday, June 17 to recognize the top-ranked companies. The full list of this year's honorees will be posted online on Friday, June 18.

The American Gas Association, founded in 1918, represents more than 200 local energy companies that deliver clean natural gas throughout the United States. There are more than 76 million residential, commercial and industrial natural gas customers in the U.S., of which 95 percent - more than 72 million customers - receive their gas from AGA members. Today, natural gas meets more than thirty percent of the United States' energy needs.
