PFL, a leading hybrid experience company, today announced that, after 25 years of growth and category creation, founder and CEO, Andrew Field, is retiring from the company. PFL President Nick Runyon will assume the role of CEO.

PFL began life under Field as the world’s first online commercial printer in 1996. Its mission was, and remains, to help businesses become successful. PFL, then PrintingForLess.com, enjoyed early success with rapid growth, three appearances on the Inc. 500 list, and industry-leading technology development.

Six years ago, Field led PFL to its second category-creation moment with the launch of software products that make sending direct mail as easy as sending an email. Today, PFL builds software that allows brands to leverage their customer data to create highly personalized direct mail. Boasting customers such as Medtronic, Zoom, Proofpoint, and Paycor, PFL today has solidified itself as a leading marketing-technology company.

Field’s retirement and Runyon’s appointment to CEO are the culmination of a multi-year strategic plan that began with Runyon returning to PFL as CMO in 2019 to help drive the company forward in martech software, focusing on growth.

Mark Midle, Managing Director, Growth Equity, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, and member of the PFL board, said: “Founding and leading multiple businesses to successful outcomes is an accomplishment that few people achieve in their lifetimes. Andrew has done that, and we’re all proud of what he’s accomplished at PFL.”

Runyon expressed his confidence in the leadership team, noting that PFL will eventually win because of its people. “Our leaders throughout the company are those that will drive us toward a successful outcome,” he said. “I’m confident in this team. I’m confident in our product, and the future.”

“Last March,” concluded Field, “we began a leadership change in anticipation of this moment. Nick and this entire team have my full support, as well as the support of the Board of Directors. We all believe that great things are ahead for PFL. Thank you, to each of you, for your contributions to PFL.”

Field officially relinquishes the CEO role on February 4. He will remain a member of the board of directors.
