"It's not to say we won't at some point in the future be back where we were - needing to ease policy and quantitative easing will come back," he told an online audience at an event hosted by the BoE.

"But I don't really foresee that for the next few years at least."

He said the full impact of recent interest rate hikes would not be felt until late 2023.
