WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bravado Health announces it again has earned Drummond Group certification for its ScriptRx electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) software applications. To earn certification, Bravado Health's application was audited to ensure that it complied with the requirements delineated in the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) EPCS Final Rule (Interim), 21 CFR Part 1300, 1304, 1306, and 1311. Drummond Group's EPCS certification process, one of the first approved by the DEA, is designed to review prescriber and pharmacy applications with EPCS extensions for compliance against the DEA EPCS Final Rule.

The audit is a requirement before prescribers or pharmacies can begin to exchange e-prescriptions with controlled substances (EPCS). Furthermore, it allows application vendors to make available to prescribers and pharmacies solutions that meet New York's state mandate for paperless e-prescriptions (including controlled substances), which went into effect March 27, 2016.

"Given our previous experience with Drummond Group, we felt well-prepared for the biennial audit," said David Turner, SVP and Chief Technology Officer at Bravado Health. "Drummond Group's attention to the details of the DEA EPCS regulations, and their certification process allows us to implement our EPCS software with great confidence."

"At Drummond Group, we ensure the EPCS certification process is carried out with integrity and strict interpretation to the regulations," said Aaron Gomez, Drummond Group's EPCS Program Director and Chief Scientist. "Being one of the first certification organizations to have an EPCS certification process reviewed and approved by DEA (approved July 2012), we take our responsibility seriously knowing there is a lot of confusion in the marketplace when it comes to EPCS certification. We provide depth in understanding the regulations; for example, which certificate authorities or credential providers are approved, and what does the 'processing integrity' clarification published by DEA mean and how it may apply."
