BrightBytes : Appoints Education Technology Veteran Traci Burgess as Chief Executive Officer

04/18/2016 | 08:31am EST

SAN FRANCISCO, April 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- BrightBytes, an award-winning educational technology company, announced today the appointment of Traci Burgess to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Burgess joins the founding leadership team of Silicon Valley technologist Hisham Anwar and education thought-leader Rob Mancabelli.

Combining research, data, and user-friendly design, BrightBytes' Clarity platform provides fast, informative answers for administrators managing a diverse range of challenges such as technology efficacy, dropout prevention, at-risk student identification, data privacy, digital safety and leadership effectiveness. Currently serving approximately 1 in 5 schools in the United States, BrightBytes gathers ideas from leading global experts and creates evidence-based frameworks combined with data from a school or region, giving K-12 leaders the tools they need to quickly improve their students' learning outcomes.

A mission-driven leader, visionary, and former classroom math teacher, Traci Burgess has spent over 15 years building and executing scalable operational strategies to optimize student achievement. Prior to her role as BrightBytes' CEO, Ms. Burgess was the Chief Operating Officer at Think Through Math, where she dramatically increased market share and school outreach. Prior to Think Through Math, Ms. Burgess was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Catapult Learning and the Vice President of Sales at Blackboard.

"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Traci into the BrightBytes family," said Rob Mancabelli. "We feel that her experience in leadership, operations, and sales at educational technology companies is the perfect addition to the founding team. Moreover, her work as an educator makes her a natural fit for the BrightBytes culture and mission." Co-founder Hisham Anwar remarked, "Traci's operational experience was really attractive to us. With BrightBytes' fast rate of expansion, it's great to add someone with experience in the next stages of growth."

"BrightBytes' founders and Board of Directors have attracted a remarkable group of people who truly care about improving schools, and the success of the Clarity platform is a testimony to their vision and talent. I'm delighted to be a part of this team as we work to continue to scale the company," said Ms. Burgess.

"The Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Traci Burgess to the team," said Nick Sinai, BrightBytes board member and venture partner at Insight Venture Partners. "We are excited for Traci, Rob, and Hisham to scale BrightBytes' outreach and impact to schools and students here and abroad."
