CH2M HILL Employees Named World Environment Federation Fellows

DENVER, June 20, 2012 - CH2M HILL (www.ch2mhill.com), a global full-service consulting, design, construction, and operations firm, is pleased to announce that Jay Witherspoon, CH2M HILL International Technology Leader based in New Zealand, and Dr. Glen Daigger, International Water Association President and CH2M HILL Chief Technology Officer based in Colorado, have been recognized as 2012 Water Environment Federation (WEF) Fellows for their distinguished accomplishments in and contributions to the global water environment. Mr. Witherspoon and Dr. Daigger will be recognized during WEFTEC 2012, WEF's annual technical exhibition and conference to be held in New Orleans, La., this September 29 to October 3.

Mr. Witherspoon and Dr. Daigger are two of twenty-three outstanding professionals named by the Water Environment Federation as this year's 2012 group of WEF Fellows. This prestigious designation recognizes members' achievements, stature, and contributions in professional segments served by WEF. The WEF Fellow Recognition Program, now in its second year, identifies individuals with outstanding accomplishments who have made an impact in their field of expertise and has been approved by WEF Board of Trustees. Both Mr. Witherspoon and Dr. Daigger are active members in WEF and the global water environment industry as a whole.

About Mr. Witherspoon

As CH2M HILL Vice President, Senior Fellow Technologist, and Water Business Group International Technology Manager, Mr. Witherspoon ensures quality and efficiency of technology innovations, project delivery, and interested companies management by providing technical, sustainability, and business feedback, analysis and direction respective to technology needed assignments that looks both at the day-to-day and horizontal technology needs. Mr. Witherspoon has 30 years of extensive experience in sustainable plant design and optimization, renewable energy sources, air quality and greenhouse gases evaluations, measurements, and reductions, composting, waste management, water and wastewater regulatory compliance issues, biosolids management, and odor control approaches. He uses his expertise in renewable energy, waste management, water and wastewater treatment and design, air emissions, greenhouse gases reductions, odor control, and permitting engineering and environmental management to promote sustainable solutions. Mr. Witherspoon was recently relocated to New Zealand to help provide water and wastewater services, sustainable solutions, and to provide New Zealand clients with even greater access to the international skills and experiences of CH2M HILL.

Mr. Witherspoon is active in the profession, and serves in leadership postions for several WEF committee and community of practices, international industry, research, and public groups. A WEF member since 1997, Mr. Witherspoon is a recent, past member of the WEF Board of Trustees, during which time he was a strong advocate to leverage international knowledge, tools, and practices to benefit WEF members. Mr. Witherspoon is a past chair of WEF's Community of Practice on Microconstituents, Committee Leadership Counsel, and Air Quality Committee. He has served as a Water Environment Research Foundation Principal Investigator since 1990 on six major research efforts that included WEF members and utilities, international research universities in Canada, USA, Australia, England, Singapore, New Zealand, and China, and large international equipment and manufacturering companies. Jay has continuously leveraged his internatinal experiences and projects to WEF members via his conference presentations, green house gasses inventories, and sustianbility background used in his many WEF leadership roles.

About Dr. Daigger

A recognized expert in wastewater treatment, especially the use of biological processes, Dr. Daigger is President of the International Water Association and a Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for CH2M HILL. He is CH2M HILL's first Technical Fellow, an honor which recognizes the leadership that he provides for CH2M HILL and for the profession in the development and implementation of new wastewater treatment technology. As the author or co-author of more than 100 technical papers, four books, and several technical manuals, he has contributed to advancing practice within the wastewater profession. His nine patents for wastewater treatment have helped establish the nation's wastewater treatment standards.

For the Water Environment Federation (WEF) he has served as Chair of several committees, including the task force that developed the most recent edition of the WEF MOP No. 8, Design of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants, Board of Editorial Review of Water Environment Research, the Technical Practice Committee, and the Committee Leadership Council (CLC). He has also served as in the House of Delegates and the Board of Trustees. For the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) he served on the Board of Directors and Research Council where he served as its chair.
