Central Bank Of Barbados To Host Regional IT Conference

The Central Bank of Barbados will host a five- day conference for IT professionals from regional central banks at the Barbados Hilton from June 3 to 7.
Approximately 25 Caribbean IT professionals from nine territories will participate in the event, which has as its theme Opportunities, Risks and Threats of New Technologies for Regional Central Banks.
"This conference, now in its 23rd year, offers a unique opportunity for regional central banks' IT professionals to discuss and view first-hand the latest technologies, exchange ideas, network and share experiences and concerns," Janice Marshall, Director of the Bank's MISD department explained.
"As usual, we are delighted to host this regional conference and to learn from each other, as we discuss an array of issues of mutual interest to central bankers. These topics include big data, as well as mobile and cloud technologies," Marshall stated further. In addition to the central bankers, international suppliers of the latest information systems technologies will present papers throughout the week, and Bob Kalka, Director of IBM Security System, will deliver the keynote address at the Opening Ceremony on June 3. Marshall also disclosed that the Bank and the Barbados Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) will host a one-day exhibition and workshop on protection technologies on June 5 for sixty (60) local IT professionals.
