CBS and SBA host open forum for the Retailer's community

The Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) and the Seychelles Bankers Association (SBA) hosted a half-day forum with the retailer's community, organised as an extension of a series of meetings with the Retailers Association, on Wednesday 25th November, 2020 at the STC Conference Room at Latanier Road.

The main aim of the forum was to provide a platform for all retailers to bring forth the various challenges and concerns impacting them, more importantly in light of the persistent impact of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.

The presentations made during the forum served as an awareness programme to enhance retailers' knowledge on various topics that have direct or indirect bearing on their business, such as the current economic realities and outlook, impact of the "new normal" including the need to accelerate the development of electronic banking and a broader digital economy, amongst other topics.

The retailers present made good use of the opportunity provided to interact and have open and frank discussions with the representatives of the CBS and the banking community, to find common ground and opportunities which will enable them to play an effective role in the economy.

This engagement is part of efforts of the CBS and the banking community to enhance their interaction with various key players in the economy and educate the population on the policies developed to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Seychelles economy.
