Communications services companies ticked down as traders hedged their bets on the outlook for the streaming industry.

Shares of Netflix and Paramount Global ticked up. Walt Disney, which is in the midst of a cost-cutting campaign spearheaded by activist investors, slipped.

Shares of Dycom Industries rose after the telecom contractor reported higher revenue and profit for the third quarter.
