Communications services companies rose after strong earnings from AT&T.

Shares of the giant cell-phone carrier and media conglomerate rose by more than 5% after it posted a higher-than-anticipated number of subscriber additions.

The price on cinema chain AMC Entertainment Holdings' $1.4 billion bond due June 2026 dropped below 10 cents on the dollar this week, according to MarketAxess, implying that creditors believe they aren't very likely to get paid back.
