Communications Services Up Slightly, Cable Carriers Weak -- Communications Services Roundup

12/08/2021 | 05:28pm EDT

Communications services companies rose, with gains for content producers such as Walt Disney and CBSViacom, and weakness for cable companies.

Comcast ticked down, compounding losses from a session earlier after warnings about the rate of subscription growth. On Tuesday, Walt Disney named Geoff Morrell to the newly created position of chief corporate affairs officer, where he will coordinate communications and government relations, among other duties.

Instagram's top executive, Adam Mosseri, appeared before a Senate panel investigating possible harm to young people using the photo-sharing app.

Shares of Roku jumped by 18% after the streaming-device maker signed a multiyear agreement with Alphabet that restored the YouTube TV app to its set-top service.
