Consumer Cos Down on Housing-Market Concerns -- Consumer Roundup

11/21/2022 | 04:57pm EST

Retailers and other consumer companies fell sharply amid concerns about the housing market. Shares of home builders fell after dire housing-market data.

Pending home sales fell the most on record in October, with deal cancellations and price cuts also hitting records, according to real-estate Web site Redfin. The report followed the latest in a long streak of negative home-sales data last week.

J.M. Smucker shares rose after the maker of condiments boosted its profit projection for the year. Domino's Pizza is investing in electric vehicles in an attempt to redress driver shortages.
