COWON Launches Full HD Smart Auto Black Box Supporting Wi-Fi, 'Auto Capsule AW1'

2013.02.21

COWON has unveiled its high-end Wi-Fi automotive black box.

COWON Systems (CEO: Park Nam-Gyu, www.cowon.com) announced that it would launch its new full HD, smart automotive black box, the 'Auto Capsule AW1' on the 20th.

The AW1 is a high definition black box that can be connected to smart devices wirelessly via Wi-Fi. The product sports several smart functions, including real-time image checks & transfers, effective battery and memory control, and a unique, sensible capsule design.

The product produces full HD (1920X1080p) high-definition, 16:9 wide view images at 30 frames per second. Because it has a highly sensitive, exclusive full HD CMOS image sensor camera, it records superior quality images outstandingly fast, even in dark, low-light environments.

The AW1 uses 'IISA technology', which is an intelligent image sensor algorithm optimized for black boxes. It is very sensitive to light and can cope with rapid lighting changes, such as day/night/tunnel entrance & exit.

Because the Wi-Fi module is embedded in the main body, it can be wirelessly connected to smart devices such as Android smart phones, tablets, iOS iPhones and iPads. Without the burden of having to take out the memory card to view images, recordings can be checked directly on the smart device with 'Smart Manager'.

COWON's 'Smart Manager' provides extra user convenience with recording playback, file downloads and product configuration as well as 'Live View' to show recordings in real time. Recordings downloaded to a smart device can be uploaded to SNS sites, such as 'YouTube', to share them with other drivers in real time.

When parking, the unit's motion detection sensors kick in to automatically record. Long-term recording is available through effective memory control.

Because the automobile battery voltage sensor is embedded, the unit provides the auto entrance function in parking mode, depending on voltage changes during parking. The AW1's auto finish feature helps to protect against the accidental discharge of car batteries.

There is no need to purchase an additional power device as the power circuit is integrated. It supports external GPS and has additional built-in conveniences, such as voice guide & motion guide LED, safe memory card removal and formatting, high temperature protection, backup battery, and voice recording. For maximum versatility in any vehicle, the AW1's accepts both 12V and 24V power supplies.

CEO Part Nam-Gyu of COWON said "The AW1 integrates the imaging and technological know-how of COWON into a truly premium black box that is equipped with full HD and a plethora of convenient smart functions.' He added that COWON will continue its ferocious foray into to black box market to meet and exceed people's needs and expectations with newly developed product line-ups that sport superior designs, advanced technology, and a national A/S network.

COWON is planning a month-long event to celebrate the product launch. Various give-aways will include a black box, MP3 player, and earphones among others. Everyone is welcome to join the event at the company's homepage (www.cowon.com) as soon as AW1 is launched.

The AW1 is priced at KRW 299,000 for the 16 GB model and KRW 339,000 for the 32 GB model.
