FTSE 100 Set to Edge Higher After Mixed Asia Trading

0741 GMT - The FTSE 100 looks set to open about 11 points higher at 7847, according to IG futures data, after mixed trading in Asia and a slightly lower close on Wall Street. Australian stocks fall, Japan's Nikkei 225 is broadly flat and markets in mainland China, Hong Kong and South Korea rise. The Dow closed Monday 0.1% lower. "In this morning's Asia session, the Reserve Bank of Australia raised its benchmark interest rate by another 25bps, perhaps hoping that the December surge in headline CPI from 7.3% to 8.4% was a one-off likely to be reversed quite quickly," CMC Markets analyst Michael Hewson writes.
