Consumer prices rose 0.6% on month in June measured by national standards and 0.7% in EU-harmonized standards, Destatis said. Both figures are above the 0.3% economists polled by Dow Jones Newswires had forecast in both cases.

Consumer prices were up 0.9% on year in national standards, above a forecast of 0.6% from economists polled by Dow Jones Newswires. Prices rose 0.8% on year in EU-harmonized standards, above the polled economists' forecast of a 0.5% rise.

The final results for May will be released on July 14.
