Health-care companies ticked down, but not by as much as the broad market, as investors rotated into sectors less sensitive to the effects of rising interest rates and inflation.

Drug maker AbbVie said its experimental drug Rinvoq, which it is studying in a raft of inflammatory diseases, showed promise in a late-stage trial on colitis patients.

Shares of Viatris, formed from the Pfizer over-the-counter drug unit Upjohn, fell sharply after its 2021 operating earnings projection lagged Wall Street expectations.
