TOKYO, Feb 6 (Reuters) -

A senior Japanese ruling party official brushed aside on Monday a media report that the government was finalising a candidate for Bank of Japan governor to take over from incumbent Haruhiko Kuroda whose five-year term ends in April.

"There's no truth," Toshimitsu Motegi, secretary general of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, told reporters.

Japan's government has sounded out the BOJ Deputy Governor Masayoshi Amamiya to succeed Kuroda, the Nikkei newspaper reported on Monday, citing anonymous government and ruling party sources. (Reporting by Tetsushi Kajimoto; Editing by Toby Chopra)
