TOKYO, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Japan's economy expanded an annualised 3.1% in the April-June quarter, government data showed on Thursday, compared with a median market forecast for a 2.1% increase.
The rise in gross domestic product (GDP) translated into a quarterly increase of 0.8%, compared with a median estimate of a 0.5% increase. (Reporting by Makiko Yamazaki and Satoshi Sugiyama; Editing by Himani Sarkar)
