TOKYO, Jan 21 (Reuters) - The Japanese government on Thursday nominated academic Asahi Noguchi to join the Bank of Japan's nine-member board, a document presented to parliament showed.

Noguchi, a professor at Senshu University, would replace Makoto Sakurai, who consistently voted with the majority of the board and recently voiced concern over the rising side-effects of prolonged monetary easing. (Reporting by Yoshifumi Takemoto and Takaya Yamaguchi Editing by Chang-Ran Kim)
