FTSE 100 Trades Flat as Investors Await US Jobs Data

The FTSE 100 trades flat at 7149 points as traders turn cautious ahead of Friday's U.S. nonfarm payrolls report which could offer clues on when the Federal Reserve will start tapering asset purchases. Melrose Industries is the biggest riser with shares up 4.2% after the turnaround specialist swung to a first-half profit. Mining shares are also higher, recovering from losses in the previous session. Barratt Developments drops 2.0% after the housebuilder's results for the year to June 30 showed pre-tax profit jumped compared to a year ago but remained below its pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
