This morning, investors were trading cautiously, with the FTSE 100 up 0.5% ahead of the release of latest U.K. manufacturing and services PMI, due at 9.30 am, and the Federal Reserve's minutes this evening.

Investors will be looking for clues that the Fed is softening its stance on monetary policy and could go for lower interest rates.

Among stocks, mining giant Glencore rose after price target upgrades from Deutsche Bank and Bernstein.

Britvic, Halfords, Pets at Home, Rotork and De La Rue are among companies posting their results in London today.

Shares in De La Rue tumbled 24% after the currency maker posted a loss in the first-half and warned about lower-than-expected full-year profit.
