Macquarie Asset Management today announced the appointment of Michael Kopfler as Global Head of Equity Trading reporting to John Leonard, Global Head of Equities at the firm. In this role, Michael will be responsible for the strategic direction, daily operation, and management of Macquarie Asset Management’s global equity trading desk, including maximizing technology and analytics and implementing innovative trading solutions to enhance client outcomes.

Prior to joining Macquarie, Michael worked at Fidelity Investments where he spent more than 20 years in a variety of leadership roles. Most recently, he worked for Fidelity Investments out of Boston and New Hampshire, managing a trading team of 28 across Europe and the United States with responsibility for strategic planning and executing on the integration of technology throughout the trading process. Prior to this position, Mike served as Global Head of Trading for Fidelity International in London, leading the integration and management of a world-class global team, including 40 traders across equities, fixed income, and currencies in Europe, North America, and Asia. He has also held other leadership and investment positions at Fidelity, Scudder, Stevens & Clark Inc., and the Boston Company.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in business management from Boston College.
