Producers of metals and other raw materials fell as the dollar rose against other currencies in the wake of comments from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.

Mr. Powell did not commit to any further bond-market intervention, as some strategists had predicted he would.

Gold futures, which are particularly sensitive to foreign-exchange market moves, hit another nine-month low.

Plaintiffs' firms that led the legal campaign against Bayer are vying for $800 million in fees from the Roundup weedkiller litigation, arguing they deserve a bigger slice of one of the largest-ever corporate settlements than firms that joined later.
