Shares of Canadian mining concern Copper Mountain Mining rose sharply after its earnings report topped investors' expectations.

Gold futures fell below $1,800 an ounce to finish at the lowest price in nearly three weeks, as the dollar continued to gain strength ahead of this week's meeting of Federal Reserve policy makers.
