Materials Up As Traders Hedge Bets On Stimulus Outlook -- Materials Roundup

10/23/2020 | 04:37pm EDT

Producers of metals and other raw materials ticked up as traders hedged their bets on the outcome of stimulus negotiations.

Both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin hinted that talks may not bear fruit, with each side expressing frustration with the other.

Copper futures ticked down, but remain close to more-than two-year highs, as Chinese economic growth has rebounded more quickly than anticipated.

French industrial-gas producer Air Liquide said third-quarter revenue fell, hurt by currency translation and higher energy prices.
