Norges Bank Investment Management said Friday it has appointed Birgitte Bryne as chief technology and operating officer, effective April 1.

Norges Bank Investment Management, the arm of Norway's central bank that manages the country's sovereign-wealth fund, commonly known as the oil fund, said the role is a newly created position, formed by combining NBIM's technology and operations divisions.

Ms. Bryne currently serves as chief operating officer within NBIM, a role she has held since 2020.

"As an IT business, we must be among the leaders in technology and the analysis of large amounts of data," NBIM Chief Executive Nicolai Tangen said.

Chief Technology Officer Age Bakker will step down from his role and become principal data developer.
