The death toll from flooding in southern Thailand has risen to at least nine, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said on Saturday.

Around 550,000 households have been affected, and 13,029 people have evacuated to 200 temporary shelters across southern provinces, the department added.

Thailand's Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain, flash floods, and waves up to 9.8 feet (3 meters) high across nine southern provinces due to strong monsoons.
