Shares of technology companies were flat as traders hedged their bets on the outlook for growth in the sector.

Canadian semiconductor concern Sierra Wireless shares rallied after Bloomberg News reported chipmaker Semtech was in advanced buyout talks with Sierra.

The Securities and Exchange Commission said it charged 11 individuals with creating and promoting a fraudulent platform that operated as a global crypto pyramid and Ponzi scheme.

Electric-truck maker Nikola agreed to buy battery-technology company Romeo Power in an all-stock deal valuing Romeo at roughly $144 million.
