Toronto stocks were about flat at midday Monday, with healthcare, energy and financial stocks lagging in the session.

Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index fell 0.04% to 20637.36. The blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 was down 0.01% at 1236.76.

Canada's quarterly current-account surplus widened during the April-to-June period as exports of goods rose. The country's current account, or the broadest indicator of Canada's trading and investing relationship with other nations, recorded a surplus of 3.58 billion Canadian dollars, or the equivalent of $2.84 billion, in the second quarter of 2021, Statistics Canada said Monday.

Shares of oil and gas exploration and production company Enerplus Corp. were about flat at C$7.32 after it said it agreed to sell its interests in the Sleeping Giant field in Montana and Russian Creek area in North Dakota, both in the Williston Basin, for $115 million.

Other market movers:

Shares of Hexo Corp., a producer of cannabis products, fell about 2% to C$3.01. The company has closed its acquisition of Redecan, a Canadian cannabis company.
