Stocks in Canada were higher in midday trading with most sectors pushing the S&P/TSX Composite Index up 199.82 points. In equity news, Dynacor Gold Mines Inc. upgraded its guidance as production is expected to reach historical highs for the company, pushing up the shares in the session.

Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index rose 1% to 20447.37, while the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 rose 0.96% to 1222.79.

Shares in Dynacor Gold Mines Inc. rose 1.4% to C$2.88 after it said it has raised its sales, earnings and production guidance as it expects gold output to rise above 100,000 gold equivalent ounces for the first time in its history.

Other market movers:

Cypress Development Corp. shares fell 0.7% to C$1.52 after it said it acquired 24 unpatented mining claims near its current lithium project in Nevada.
