Stocks in Canada were moderately higher Thursday, in step with global markets.

In the session, most sectors were higher, led by tech, materials and energy. Transportation, utilities and distribution services were the main decliners.

At midday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 0.59% at 18784.74 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 rose by 0.55% to 1138.13.

Intermap Technologies share rose after it said it signed a contract with Skyroads AG and cloudeo AG to support an automated airspace management and vehicle guidance system that will be used to build digital roads in the sky. Shares rose 9.9% to C$0.50 after the company said Skyroads will use Intermap's aviation-specific terrain data to build an obstacle management system that will allow for advanced air mobility and interoperability between manned and unmanned traffic in urban airspaces.

Winpak Ltd. shares were 5.4% lower at C$43.51 after reporting a rise in profit in the third quarter, shy of what analysts expected, while revenue exceeded expectations only slightly.

QYOU Media Inc. shares were up 7.1% to C$0.15 after announcing it will acquire a majority ownership stake in India-based mobile gaming company Maxamtech Digital Ventures as part of a recent push to ramp up its portfolio of direct-to-consumer products.

SNC-Lavalin said that it has been awarded three contracts with Quebec to improve hospital infrastructure at sites across the province. Shares were up 1.4% to C$22.62.
