Stocks in Toronto remained virtually flat at midday on Friday after the S&P/TSX Composite Index closed at another all-time high on Thursday. At mid-session, energy stocks had pared back some gains from the previous day, while non-energy minerals and consumer durables rose.

Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 0.04% at 20802.92 while the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 was unchanged at 1245.00.

BRP Inc. continued Thursday's upward trend, rising 5.2% to C$124.29 at midday, following a strong second-quarter performance as well as upgraded sales and profit expectations for the year.

Other market movers:

Canadian miners saw an uptick as the price of gold reached $1808.70 an ounce, with notable standouts B2Gold Corp. rising 4% to C$4.99 and New Gold Inc. increasing by 9% to C$1.58.
