Toronto Stocks Rise; Gensource Potash Shares Move Higher

10/25/2021 | 01:03pm EST

By Kimberly Chin

Shares in Toronto were up in midday trading Monday with Gensource Potash Corp's shares moving higher after confirming plans for a London listing.

At midday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index rose 0.3% at 21282.13, while the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 was up 0.2% at 1276.79.

Gensource Potash's shares rose 5.6% to C$0.38 after the Canadian potash company confirmed Monday that it will float in London in early November, as a U.K.-listing will allow it to better access U.K. and European institutional investors.

Other market movers:

Excellon Resources Inc. shares tumbled 5.5% to C$1.88 after the company said Ben Pullinger, its senior vice president of geology and corporate development, will leave the company to pursue an opportunity with a West African gold producer. Excellon also named Jeff Swinoga as an independent director of the board and head of the audit committee and Jorge Ortega as the vice president of exploration.

Cardiol Therapeutics Inc.'s shares fell 4% to C$5.23 on Monday following Health Canada's approval for its Phase 2 trial of an anti-inflammatory therapy for cardiovascular disease treatment. The study will examine the safety and tolerability of its drug, CardiolRx, and its effects on myocardial recovery in patients with acute myocarditis.
