Stocks in Canada were modestly higher mid-trading Wednesday, with energy, natural resources and tech leading the gainers while health tech and consumer services sectors were down. Shares in Lightspeed Commerce Inc. rose after the company said U.S.-based retail and hospitality merchants outperformed peers in 2021.

At midday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index climbed 0.34% to 21346.56. The blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 was up by 0.36% at 1297.80.

Lightspeed Commerce shares rose 4% to C$50.13 after the company said same-store gross transaction volume between January to November of 2021 for retailers in the U.S. rose 35% compared with the previous year.

Other market movers:

Charlotte's Web Holdings Inc. shares were up 3.1% to C$1.35 after the company said that it has completed a structural reorganization aimed at driving agility, growth and returning to positive cash flow.
