Shares in Toronto were slightly down mid-trading Thursday as energy stocks dragged, offsetting technology services gains. Rogers Communications Inc. shares fell after the company said its media segment dragged on earnings in the third quarter.

At midday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index was down 0.15% at 21157.30. The blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 was also down 0.14% at 1271.13.

Rogers Communications shares fell 1.5% to C$60.37 after the company said third-quarter profit fell as its media segment saw lower revenue.

Other market movers:

Precision Drilling Corp. shares fell 9.7% to C$54.64 after reporting a wider loss in the third quarter despite a rise in revenue.

Hut 8 Mining Corp. shares fell 5.1% to C$14.44 after the company said it purchased 12,000 news cryptocurrency miners from Inchigle Technology Hong Kong Ltd. for $58.7 million.

Stantec Inc. stock rose by 9.4% at C$67.74 after the company said it would buy Cardno Ltd.'s North America and Asia Pacific engineering and consulting groups for $500 million.
