Shares in Toronto traded lower Wednesday on broad-based declines across sectors.

At midday, the benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index traded 0.5% lower at 20083.11, and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 was down 0.4% at 1206.97.

Arizona Sonoran Copper Co. on Wednesday said it has filed preliminary documents for an initial public offering in Canada.

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc. on Wednesday said Sharon Driscoll, its chief financial officer since July 2015, plans to retire within two years. Shares traded down about 1%.

Gold companies were one of the areas that saw gains. Barrick Gold Corp. was up about 0.4%; B2Gold Corp., rose about 3% and Yamana Gold Inc. was about 1% higher.
