Export sales of U.S. soy products, including beans, meal and oil, all fell from their reported levels last week, says the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

In this week's export sales report, the USDA says that export sales of U.S. soybeans totaled 902,900 metric tons for the week ended Sept. 16, down from last week's sales of 1.27 million tons. Meanwhile, soybean meal sales totaled 45,000 tons, and soyoil sales totaled 4,300 tons, both down from last week.

The low sales of soymeal in particular missed the expectations of grains traders surveyed by The Wall Street Journal, who had forecast sales anywhere from 75,000 tons to 200,000 tons.

China was again the largest buyer of U.S. soybeans this week, announcing new purchases of 624,200 tons, according to the USDA.
