The banking sector is busy today, with rumors of disposals, mergers and even embezzlement. Airbus is betting heavily on hydrogen. In the United States, a possible epilogue in the TikTok affair and disagreements over the future of WeChat. Rolls-Royce needs new money.

UBS on the lookout for a new acquisition. UBS want to purchase another European player. Nothing less than Deutsche Bank, Barclays or even BNP Paribas, according to Bloomberg. Commerzbank and Lloyds were also cited as potential targets. Are we finally going to witness the much-trumpeted European banking consolidation?

Hydrogen-powered aircraft. In French newspaper Le Parisien, Guillaume Faury confirmed that the hydrogen airplane is a major area of development at Airbus, which is still hoping to bring one of these aircraft into service in 2035. The first concept on which the aircraft manufacturer is working is a conventionally configured aircraft with a seating capacity of up to 200 seats and a range of more than 3,500 km. Another project concerns a propeller plane and the third one a flying wing. The Group's objective is to be the leading industrial player in this segment.

Whiter than white. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has published an investigation called "FinCEN Files", which shows how big banks fail to fight dirty money. Deutsche Bank is accused of having facilitated more than half of the $2 trillion of suspicious transactions over nearly two decades, Deutsche Welle reports.

TikTok US survives. Donald Trump validates the draft agreement between TikTok and Oracle, which will take 12.5% of the platform, while Walmart could acquire 7.5%, based on a valuation that could reach $60 billion. This level of ownership, added to the American capital already present in ByteDance, would guarantee a capital majority. A new company, TikTok Global, would be created in the United States, with the promise of significant hiring.

New money. Rolls-Royce wants to raise £2.5 billion to strengthen its balance sheet, notably through a capital increase that could be subscribed by the sovereign fund GIC. The company needs to strengthen its balance sheet to get through the current aviation crisis.

New rebound. Trevor Milton, Nikola's boss, has resigned in a bid to appease the ongoing controversy.

In other news. LafargeHolcim signs commitments to reduce its ecological footprint, validated by the SBTi. In Hong Kong, the HSBC share price had never been so low since the mid-1990s. Novartis presents data with Piqray and Spartalizumab and Roche on Tecentriq at ESMO. U.S. courts charge six people with bribing Amazon.com employees to gain competitive advantage.
